Emotional Sobriety is about learning to deal with your feelings and emotions. Stopping drinking just isn’t enough. We have to learn to tolerate and experience emotions instead of running, and numbing Sobriety can give us the ability to experience our full spectrum of emotions, and then we can have appropriate emotional responses to events. Chip and Veronica talk through how this happens.

    Veronica and Chip,
Your podcast on loneliness was so spot on. For me, drinking filled that emotional void that began in childhood when my mother took me far away from my family and friends. Drinking evolved into being my best friend…the thing I placed first in my life. And like all terrible friends, it made me feel horrible about myself and left me alone time and time again. As I march forward in sobriety I am taking your direction and looking for ways to connect with people and activities that make me feel good. It’s slow going and hard to be patient but I hear from you both that it will be worth it! Thank you for doing the podcasts.
    Carie
