about this episode

“Boredom is a choice. It’s not that there aren’t things to do; you’re choosing not to go do them.”

Today, I’m joined by Angela Pugh to talk about boredom in sobriety. After bartending her way across Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Angela was in over her head with a drinking problem that was relentless. She got sober in 2006 and dedicated her life to helping others do the same. Angela has spent the last 15 years working in addiction/recovery as an Interventionist and trainer and now serves as a Master Life Coach, host of the nationally-ranked Addiction Unlimited Podcast, national speaker, entrepreneur, and author of Powerless and Powerful: A Guided Recovery Journal.

In this episode, Angela and I talk about:

  • Angela’s experiences and lifestyle as a bartender
  • Hitting rock bottom after a period of escalating drinking and self-hatred
  • The decision to attend AA and Angela’s transformative experience with the program
  • Lessons of personal responsibility and willingness learned in sobriety
  • Transition into addiction recovery work and her passion for becoming an interventionist
  • Why Angela started the Addiction Unlimited podcast
  • Angela’s involvement in men’s sober living houses and her commitment to creating a specific culture
  • Finding purpose and perspective in recovery
  • Reflecting on personal growth and why you shouldn’t try to predict the long-term
  • Unlimited possibilities that become available in sobriety
