about this episode

Sex and love addiction is a lot more common than you think.

Brianne Davis has over a decade of recovery and in that time, she’s seen just how much the world of sex and love addicts anonymous is centered around “don’t talk about it.”

Seeing so many people struggling with their addiction and the stigma surrounding it, even in recovery communities, she decided to speak out. That’s where Secret Life started.

Brianne Davis is the writer of Secret Life of a Hollywood Sex & Love Addict, host of the Secret Life podcast, and a successful actress. In a conversation you don’t hear a lot, Brianne speaks very frankly, about her sex and love addiction, the deadliness of it, and how she recovered.

While Brianne didn’t struggle with a substance use disorder, for many of us, sex and love addiction crops up as a result of not doing the deeper work of sobriety.

While recovering from a substance, we end up transferring that behavior elsewhere. That’s what happened to me.

I’m so happy to have Brianne on the show today to share her experiences and bring attention to this addiction which just isn’t taken seriously by people, despite the fact that it causes the same amount of pain, anguish, and misery as any substance addiction.
